Zip & Zip Head Repair / Replacement

The zip itself and the head that runs on it — freed, repaired or replaced.

About this service

A zip fails in two places, and they are two different repairs. The zip itself — tape, teeth and the stitching that anchors it into the panel — is freed and re-lubricated where it has only seized, or replaced where teeth have split or the tape has torn away from the lining. The zip head — the slider and its puller — is re-tensioned, re-fitted or replaced when it has worn loose, snapped off or gone missing. Parts are sourced to original spec where they still exist; where they don't, we fit a matched replacement and say so.

Common questions

About Zip & Zip Head Repair / Replacement.

Two repairs, not one. The zip itself — tape, teeth and the stitching that anchors it into the panel — is freed where it has only seized, or replaced where teeth have split or the tape has torn away. The zip head — the slider and its puller — is re-tensioned, re-fitted or replaced when it has worn loose, snapped off or gone missing.
There's no fixed price list — the same work can cost differently on two bags from the same house, depending on the piece, the material and the damage we find. Send a photo on WhatsApp and we'll quote your actual piece.
Freeing a seized zip is quick. A full zip, or a head sourced to original spec, takes longer — and discontinued parts add lead time on top. Quoted on inspection.
Freeing a zip whose teeth are deformed or whose tape has hardened buys weeks, not years — replacement is the lasting fix, and we say which one you're looking at up front rather than sell you the cheaper fix twice. A tarnished but mechanically sound head is a plating job, not a replacement — see 24K Gold Re-Plating & Hardware Replacement. Where the leather or canvas at the zip channel has torn through, the panel has to be rebuilt before a new zip will hold.
Send a photo on WhatsApp for a real estimate, or request a quote online. Seeing the piece in person lets us inspect it properly before any work begins.
Often, yes. A slider that has seized on a sound tape is cleaned, lubricated and re-tensioned rather than replaced. Where the teeth are deformed or the tape has hardened, freeing it is temporary — we'll tell you that plainly at inspection instead of doing the same job twice.
Yes — LOUIS VUITTON closures are among the most frequent zip jobs on the bench: Zippy wallets, Speedy and Keepall zips, and the small leather pullers on pochettes and Neverfull side tabs. We source to original spec where the part still exists and fit a matched replacement where it doesn't, and we tell you which before any work starts. Send a photo on WhatsApp for a quote.
